Long ago, the Starmen descended from the heavens in a flash of light, landing their ships at the foot of the sandstone cliffs of the Az’zara wasteland. Seeking to create a site for their strange experiments, a vault to hoard and protect their knowledge, and a place to revere their dead, they enslaved the locals to build an imposing obsidian Ziggurat, and a great and terrible city around it.

It’s been 50 years since a bloody slave revolt drove out the Starmen. Now, their city lies in ruins, razed to the ground, the black Ziggurat standing as a monument to their hubris. 

But far from empty, the Ziggurat has attracted the attention of many. Grave robbers, treasure hunters and scholars seek to unearth the secrets of its depths, and it is rumored that a strange cult resides inside, worshiping the relics of their old oppressors.
